Chuliyn = Raven, in Inuit

I had a hellva time trying to figure out a name for her.

Anyways after converting :iconsassinak: and :icontygrax: into Avatar fans, we were surfing the interwebs and discussing various Avatar stuff when we all wondered what kind of bender we would be. So after googling and taking one of those fan made tests, that was actually kind of indepth for a change, rather than "LOZ do u lyke Zuko or Aang?!1!1!!1!!1" we all found out what kinda of bender we would be.

Obviously I am a waterbender! : D

Which in turn allowed me, and my curious imagination, to create her.

Chuliyn is from The Northern Water Tribe, and allthough she dosen't act like, she is 16 and is mature beyond her age. Her father is one one of the top waterbending Navel officers in the Tribe and has raised his only daughter since his wifes death when she was 12. Since then Chuliyn has taken on the role of keeping the house clean and making the meals, which is part of the reason why she is so mature. Another reason is that, being a female waterbender, her choices were limited to learning the healing arts and not one to want to dissapoint, excelled at it.
Chuliyn is, in a way, pro-tradition meaning that she didn't take well to Kataras sudden feminist movement the day that she challanged Master Pakku. Thinking that the young girl from The Southern Water Tribe immature, selfish and brattish and since then dispises her due to the lack of interest in females learning the healing arts. Chuliyn has always been proud of the fact that she was given the chance to learn the art of healing and wished that more thought that too.
Since after the attack on The Northern Water Tribe, Chuliyn has gone with some of the other benders to their sister Tribe to help them rebuild. There she meets :icontygrax: character, whom eventually teaches her the art of fighting waterbender and in exchange, she teaches him the art of healing.

Yeah that's about it -reads it over- Mmm...she still kind of feels Mary-sue-ish.....But I'll work on that.

:icondreamcatcher16:
oooh! what an in-depth character.

I like how you made her pro-tradition. I wouldn't have expected that.

Well I was thinking, since she is older then Katara and has been living in The Northern Water Tribe all of her life, she is use to the way things are run around there. Of course she has her loyalties to the healing arts, since they are very important in her mind, and who would take care of the clumsy warriors and male waterbenders whom hurt themselves.
Then bring in Katara and her one woman revolution and the way things Chuliyn is use to is thrown into chaos, and thus the reason why she has a vendetta against the younger girl.

Of course on a side note, I personally don't hate Katara, I just know that Chuliyn would.

Hum...maybe as a side project when I finish my Princess Yue costume....of course I would never wear it in the summer, I would boil.

And yes you need to finish your earthbender -nods-.

no worries, I didn't get the impression that you dislike katara.

I just like how your character didn't, you know....some variety for a change.

:P Katara is the one woman revolution...I gotta use that sometime.

Send me note if you draw Chuliyn again, or if you possible write something. :D I like her alot.

Thank you so much, and I'm glad that you like her ^^

I haven't seen to many, or at least haven't looked at, a lot of other peoples Water Tribe OC's. But I can only imagine that they have similar backgrounds, from what you've said. I'm glad that Chuliyn has stood out from the rest, since I wanted her to be nearly close to what it would be like in The Northern Water Tribe. ^^

But yeah, I'll totally send you a note if I draw or write anything about Chuliyn again, which will be sometime in the near future totally ^^.
